I am a teacher at South Middle School
in Martinsburg, WV. Three years ago I started a paper recycling program with my sixth grade students. Each Friday,
the children would collect the paper, load it in my car and I would take it my house. There, my husband and I would
unload it and store it in a building on our property. Several months later the Berkeley Community Pride group would
collect it.
The next year I approached American Amish Company about the possibility of borrowing a building or having him donate
a damaged building that we could keep at the school for paper storage. Without hesitation, American Amish Company
donated a very nice building to our recycling project and we have now collected and recycled thousands of pounds
of paper.
Our students have learned responsibility, good citizenship and have grown in their awareness of how each of us
